Jane Smiley is author of more than a dozen books, including A Thousand Acres, winner of the Pulitzer Prize and a National Book Critics Circle Award; the novels The Greenlanders, and A Good Horse; the novella The Age of Grief; and the non-fiction work Thirteen Ways of Looking at the Novel. In 2001, she was inducted into the American Academy of Arts and Letters, and in 2006 she received the PEN USA Lifetime Achievement Award for Literature. Her most recent novel, Some Luck, was long-listed for the 2014 National Book Awards. Smiley lives in northern California
