Actress Swoosie Kurtz is a winner of Broadway’s "triple crown:” the Tony, Drama Desk, and Outer Critics Circle Awards. She has starred in many plays, television series, and movies. She has won an Emmy and been nominated for nine others. Known for her vast talent, versatility, and humor, Swoosie Kurtz is as unique and imaginative as her name.
The first woman to win The Pulitzer Prize was novelist Edith Wharton. As a social anthropologist, she described with elegance and irony the tribal rites of wealthy New Yorkers. Her observations are still pertinent and amusing, though her novels Age of Innocence, House of Mirth, and The Custom of the Country are set in another century. Her short stories, poems, and books on interior decorating demonstrate her astute intellect and aesthetic acumen.
